Haley Reinhart’s “Listen Up!” is out today, guys! Hooray!
The retro jams are the bee’s knees.
My fave song, “Wasted Tears,” features Motown piano lines, rich disco orchestration, funk flourishes and some Burt Bacharach-ish chord changes. When’s the last time you heard that on a big ol’ pop album?!
Part of me wishes they went full old-school on all 11 tracks. (Imagine “Undone” with a Phil Spector wall of sound treatment!!) But, still, a fine first album that showcases Haley’s sexy and sweet vocal chops.
